There are many student services at ACVS. Here are a few:
Special Education services are offered via an Individualized Education Plan, which may include speech and or language therapy, physical therapy, or occupational therapy by qualified and trained staff members that will work with you to ensure your program is specific to your needs. If you come to our school with an existing IEP please let the orientation team know. We will ensure your program is implemented quickly. If you, or your student’s advisor suspects that your child may have a disability that is preventing your child to benefit from their education we will go through the referral process and an evaluation to make sure your child’s needs are being met. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to talk to your advisor and they will make sure that someone in our special education / 504 department contacts you. You can also contact our Special Education Director at ACVS.
ACVS offers 504 Accommodation Plans for long and short term accommodations that may arise. A 504 Accommodation Plan can give your student some supports to help them be successful in our school. This program concentrates on removing the barriers that may be preventing your child from learning! Again, if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to talk to your advisor and they will make sure that someone in our special education / 504 department contacts you.
Here are some other programs that we offer at ACVS:
Response to Intervention (RTI) – which uses a multi-tiered approach to help students that are struggling in their learning.
Gifted and Talented Program – where we use special practices and or procedures to further engage students that have been identified as gifted and talented.
Dual Enrollment – this term can be confusing since it is also used within our Advanced Opportunities program, but how we define this form of dual enrollment is your student is going to two different K – 12 school districts. We have students that may want to take courses as other schools. If that is the case please let your advisor know, and we will set you up with a counselor that will make sure all the correct paperwork is in place! The counselor at ACVS that is in charge of this program is Ms. Angie Hurn.
Advanced Opportunities – this program is a wonderful benefit for students in Idaho. The program allows a high school student to individualize their learning plan so they can get a jump on their college in a variety of ways. When we use the term dual enrollment under advanced opportunities these students are attending high school and either getting college credit or attending college for credit at the same time they are attending high school. If you are interested in this please let your advisor know, and we will set you up with a counselor that will make sure all the correct paperwork is in place and you understand the program! The counselor at ACVS that is in charge of this program is Ms. Mindy Wilkins.
